Plenty of thrills for Passion in 38-0 victory
Pittsburgh improves to 4-0 on balanced running attack
The Phantom's Revenge is an exciting, roller coaster at Kennywood Park, outside of Pittsburgh. The expansion Columbus Phantoms of the IWFL were no match for the undefeated Pittsburgh Passion defeating Columbus, 38-0. The game started out well for the Phantoms who took the opening kick and drove down to the Pittsburgh 27 yard line before they were stopped on a 4th down pass. The Pittsburgh offense took just two plays to get on the board as Amanda Haeg ran around the right side for a 35 yard score and a 6-0 Passion advantage. Janice Masters floated a ball into the end zone for the 2nd Pittsburgh touchdown hooking up Wilma Walton just before the end of the first quarter for a 13-0 lead. Haeg and Lori Burkholder added rushing touchdowns before Kara Prentice connected with Jenine Suprano in the end zone to send the teams to the locker room with a 32-0 Passion lead. Laurie Roberts added a touchdown in the 2nd half to give Pittsburgh the final score.
The Pittsburgh running attack amassed over 200 yards on the day with Amanda Haeg, Michelle Cook, and Jenine Suprano all getting over 40 yards on the ground. Natalie Bliel had seven tackles on the defensive end to go along with some nice kickoffs and two extra points in the evening. Rookie DB Kimberly Lackner added five tackles and an interception while Katie Heil figured in on one and a half sacks with five tackles. Pittsburgh will take the road and face the Baltimore Nighthawks next Saturday at 3:30pm before taking the Memorial Day weekend off.
