LORI JOHNSON BREAKS PASSION RECEIVING RECORD WITH 83 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS

Pittsburgh, PA. The Pittsburgh Passion, members of the Independent Women’s Football League,
continued their winning ways with a win over the Boston Militia. The Passion received the
opening kick and used a methodical 9 play, 68 yard drive, in which they intertwined the run
and the pass to open a 7-0 lead. RB Lyndsi Hughes began the scoring with an 8 yard run around
the outside to get Pittsburgh on the board. On Boston’s second offensive play, LB Jo Jo Warner
who finished the game with nine tackles caused and recovered a fumble, but Pittsburgh was unable
to advance the football. LB Jen Dulski was able to intercept a pass from Militia QB Allison Cahill
which led to Lyndsi’s 2nd touchdown of the game and a 14-0 Pittsburgh advantage. Early in the 2nd
quarter, Pittsburgh found themselves with a 3rd and long from their own 17 yard line. QB Lisa Horton
was able to connect with WR Lori Johnson on a slant pattern for an 83 yard touchdown pass, making a
new Passion record previously held by WR Wilma Walton. The Passion had a comfortable 21 point lead
at the half.
Boston fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half which was recovered by veteran Beth Amato.
Torina Henley scored her first touchdown of the season on a one yard score and Pittsburgh led 28-0.
The Passion finished their scoring at 5:04 of the final quarter on a 67 yard td run by rookie Amanda
Haeg. Boston was able to get on the scoreboard with a late one yard touchdown run by Kimberly Boroyan
to finish out the scoring. The balanced rushing attack by Pittsburgh was led by Torina Henley with 82
yards followed by Haeg with 76 and Horton with 55. Lisa also connected on 7 of 16 passes for 140 yards
on the day. LB Trumane Rogers led the defense with 12 tackles. Olivia Griswold had another stellar game
figuring in on 7 tackles. The Pittsburgh Passion improved to 2-0 as the Boston Militia dropped to 1-1.
The Passion remain home for the next two weekends as they host the Washington D.C. Divas (1-1) on May 3rd
and the Columbus Phantoms (0-2) on May 10th. Both games begin at 7:00pm at Cupples Stadium in Pittsburgh’s
South Side.
