PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Passion Women's Football recently received a newly designed display inside the Heinz History Center's Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.

As Pennsylvania's largest history museum and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the History Center and Sports Museum feature a number of traveling and permanent exhibitions that chronicle the history of Western Pennsylvania life.

The Passion join a display that celebrates women's sports in a region that has been a sports leader for more than a century.

"No city of comparable size can boast the collection of high school, collegiate and professional football players who have roots here in Western Pennsylvania," said Anne Madarasz, director of the Sports Museum. "With the new display, the Passion join our region's long legacy of football excellence inside the Sports Museum."

The Sports Museum collection features hundreds of sports artifacts, including Franco Harris' shoes from the "Immaculate Reception," Mario Lemieux's hockey skates, Arnold Palmer's sweater and golf bag, the pitching rubber from the 1960 World Series and much more.

"We are privileged to join the museum and hopefully further the legacy of building not only great athletes but also great people whose spirit may continue to benefit others long after the games are done," said Passion Owner, Teresa Conn.

The official game tapes from the 2007 Passion season will also join the History Center's Library & Archives later this summer.

The National Women's Football Association is not affiliated with the National Football League.
