Pittsburgh Passion joins Independent Women's Football League
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Passion has been awarded a full
membership license to join the IWFL and play in the Eastern Conference
beginning with the 2008 season. The Passion home field, colors, all
fan favorites, and all team traditions will remain the same.
The Passion will now compete against teams from such cities as
Washington D.C., Detroit, New York, Boston, and Chicago. They will be
some of the most competitive matchups in the history of women's
full-contact football.
"We have been blessed with every city we've gotten to know to date,
and equally blessed with our fans here at home. We're honored to build
a new chapter and continue great football that our fans will love!",
said team owner, Teresa Conn.
The IWFL, a 501(c)(6) non-profit, currently has over 1000 women
playing the sport for 30 teams across North America from Southern
California to Montreal and Oregon to Florida.
